I listen to a lot of post-rock, ever since I had an epiphany listening to GYBE F# many years ago. I'm embarrassed to say I only heard WLTS a few months ago. And I'm Australian. This album is up there with the best post-rock albums ever. It's a work of art from end to finish which is very unusual even for Mogwai. Why don't more people know these guys?

Lo de Cris me ha impactado fuertemente y lagrimas salen de mis ojos al ver un ser tan especial, talentoso y Joven que ya no este entre nosotros!!! Criminally underrated artist. My friend thought I was having a seizure on the floor, no just using every part of my body to count to this fucking masterpiece of a song. Both hands shaking, both feet tapping, head bopping, my back going up and down against the floor.

Bought Towers on CD.. not as clean.. the melodies in it not as pleasant; the transitions not as crisp.. still "We Lost The Sea" but nowhere close to Departure Songs.. follow this formula.. and you'll create another masterpiece.. most bands play for 15, 20 years and don't find their sound; don't find their formula; don't find their recipie. THIS IS IT; I'm telling you, as someone who's listened to the album and this live version [100+ times] THIS IS IT! Success!

Just keep repeating what you guys did here and you'll be alright; this is a masterpiece

This album cured my depression and made it 100 times better Seriously

Everyone seems to attribute this song to the loss of a close friend or family member. For me, I was listening to this exact song when I received the news that my dog wouldn't stop having seizures and they had to (rather suddenly) put him down. He was my first dog, I grew up with him through high school, and, while I've lost family members before, I've never had a loss hit me that hard. I was at work and tears escaped. I didn't even shed a tear at the death of my grandfather or uncle, both of whom I loved. But mostly I'm so mad that I couldn't be there by his side when he was put down. But I didn't want him to suffer any longer. So this song brings a lot of pain. But I believe the pain we feel, of a serious loss, is true love. And that in itself is beautiful, an exceedingly human experience worthy of awe.
